Internet Marketing (SEM & PPC)
A Pay-per-click campaign should be supported by
a product specific landing page.
Search Marketing is one of the most profound advancements in advertising in any media. It has transformed the landscape of contextual messaging and ushered in an era of laser guided market segmentation. The ROI on a well managed web marketing or Pay Per Click (PPC) campaign can be quite spectacular. Why? Because users are already interested in what you have to say. The internet allows you to reach out to an audience that is already searching for your product or service. In essence you are reaching out to a pre-qualified consumer who is quite often ready to buy. The internet also allows you to gather a wealth of information about how people are finding you, searching your site, and ultimately deciding whether or not to buy your product. Almost everything is trackable, meaning you can truly measure your ROI.
It's a advertisers dream and a nightmare for the traditional (and far less measurable) channels of advertising*. As the usage of the internet to research products and services continues to increase, you will see more methods to inject context sensitive advertising onto your screen. Pixel Science continues to encourage and manage such campaigns as they have a proven track record of high ROI and that makes everyone happy.
Search Engine Marketing or "SEM"
Today’s businesses are realizing that if they are not ranked well within the search engines, they may never be found. That means lost leads, lost sales and most importantly lost revenue. Companies must deal with the reality that they maybe losing customers to their competitors if they do not make the effort to be visible and well ranked on the Web. Thats were SEM comes in.
Search Engine Marketing (or SEM if you're more inclined to use acronyms) is the big one and by far the most effective. Google has certainly profited from this idea. As a quick side note, in Q1 2007 Google was making 11 million dollars a day off their advertising system. It's effective because the ad only show up within a given search term. You potential clients are instantly pre-qualified, increasing the chance they will click on your ad. SEM encompasses a wide variety of tools such as Paid Advertising Campaigns, Quality Linking Strategies, Reporting & Metrics, SEF (search engine friendly) Websites and Content Optimization to name a few. The secret to good SEM is commitment, it takes a lot of effort and a bit of time to achieve, but the rewards can be endless.
Banner Ads

Banners come in all shapes and sizes and technical formats. From full tilt rich media ads that cover a page to an animated GIF. We've all seen them and they are the original players in the online world. This form of advertising has it's uses but they are much more selective. For one they should only be used in highly specialized websites (or Long Tail Content) simply because the Click Through Ratio (CTR) is so low.
With the advent of plug-ins such as Ad Blockers, banner ads have lost massive amounts of the advertising market to SEM. However, many people who are already familiar with a specific website won't use Google or Yahoo to get there, they simply type in the website address in their browser and away they go. Once there, one can make some general assumptions about a visitors interests and post banner ads that address them.
